TanTarA

So this past week I had a conference in Lake of the Ozarks. Luckily, I was able to take Charlotte and Chuck with me. I hate being away from them. Especially since it seems like every time I go away, something bad happens to my baby girl.

We had a nice little room in a cottage right on the lake.

We shopped at the outlet mall, ate some good food, and played at the playground and arcade. I was really disappointed in the beach at TanTarA. It was a sandy area with a concrete wall about 20 feet above the water. NOT BABY SAFE! And who wants to sit on a beach and not be able to get into the water?!

We went to the indoor water park right before our journey home. It had 4 slides, lazy river, pool, and tree house with one of those big tipping buckets of water. We had the place entirely to ourselves for the first 30 minutes or so which was pretty cool. And even though it was inside, it was still pretty cold. So we spent the majority of the time in the hot tub playing with Barbie. I forgot my camera in the car, so no pictures. Sorry. But I do have a picture of her afterwards:
That was one tired baby! She almost slept the entire 3 hour car ride.

This weekend we tried potty training. Saturday morning went pretty well. We had 5- number 1's, 1- number 2, and 2-accidents. But then when it came around to nap time, I had one uncooperative child and several messes to clean up. So we are thinking about holding off for a few more weeks.

Next on the agenda....planning for Charlie's 2nd Birthday party!! I cant believe my baby girl is going to be 2 years old next month!?!

Easter

We are going back to the tradition of starting off the camping season with Easter down at Goose Creek. My best memories as a kid are hunting for eggs on our lake lot. And I think Charlotte enjoyed her first G.C. Easter as well. I mean she was able to play outside the ENTIRE time. Her favorite thing in the WORLD.
Charlotte and I headed down Saturday morning. Just in time for the Goose Creek egg hunt at the pond. I did miss the big start. oops. While all the kids were lining up for the hunt, Charlotte wanted to swing. All of a sudden while we were swinging, we hear a loud siren from a fire truck. And I am thinking, geez what the heck was that for?! And then I see all the kids running onto the field. So I pulled Charlotte out as quickly as I could and ran her over in front of the pack. She only gathered 6 eggs. She was more interested in all the eggs in the other kids baskets. One kid had a million eggs in his basket. Charlotte tried to grab one, he gave her a stink eye, and then was nice enough to share with her. What a nice kid. It didn't matter anyways. All the candy they put in the eggs were choke hazards for a two year old, so it all went to me :)
After the egg hunt, we headed to the beach playground and then back to the pond to fly a kite.
The rest of the weekend consisted of  LOTS of bubbles, stickers, coloring eggs, feeding ducks, and playing with all the cool toys Grandma brought down to the cabin.
Our pretty eggs that were later turned into delicious deviled eggs:
And what is with all the caterpillars this year? I swear I saw about 100 of them!!
And I can't leave out the pups. We had a total of 7 dogs with us for Easter weekend. Izzy, Maggie, Penny, Sarge, Savannah, Duke, and Detour.
Overall, it was a GREAT Easter and it makes me even more excited about going down to the lake this summer for swimming and fishing!! Wish we had a strong tree for a tire swing, then it would be just like the old days ;)

Curly Headed Monster

Its been awhile since my last blog. Whats new? Hmm, lets see. I think its save to say that we have hit the "terrible two" phase and it is exactly like the label- terrible. Some days I am scared to take this child anywhere. She can be very unpredictable. One second we are laughing, having a great ol' time, and then next she is kicking and screaming. If she does not get what she wants....you will definitely hear about it and I just hope that I am not out in public when she tells me so.

While trying to battle a bratty child, we are in full swing into our busy season. Plans every weekend for the next few months. Hopefully we will find a weekend to try this potty training business.

Two weeks ago I was able to sneak away for a bachelorette party in Memphis. It was a lot of fun, but it was also hard being 5 hours away from my sick baby. Luckily, Uncle Scotty knew how to take care of her.

This is us being sick. :(

This past weekend, we had LB's LA's wedding. I wish we could have stayed longer, but again...terrible two's decided to ruin a good time!

Next weekend is Easter!! And it is off to Goose Creek to start the year off. Which reminds me...I need to start on a basket :/ After Easter its kickball season!! Charlotte and I will once again be on the sidelines cheering on the team every Saturday for the next several weeks.

Here's a few newbies in Charlies world the past few weeks:

- went and saw her first movie- the Lorax. The Galleria does a "movies for mommies" on Wednesdays. You can bring your bratty kid and it is acceptable for them to be loud and obnoxious.
- discovered the fun of bubbles and chalk
-says "ow" and "ewwwww" at everything
oh geez, I feel like this list should be a lot longer...but I am having a brain blockage. oh well. Here are some more pics of my Curly Headed Monster :)
